Highlights in Merano and surrounding area
From art to culture, recreation to relaxation:
Merano has a host of things to offer all year round.

Merano's promenades such as the Cure Promenade, Winter Promenade, Summer Promenade and Gilf Promenade with their diverse and subtropical plant worlds invite you to take unforgettable walks along Merano's Passiria River.

Probably Merano's most famous trail is the "Passeggiata Tappeiner" with its dreamlike view of the rooftops of the spa town and is one of the most beautiful high-altitude promenades in Europe. With a length of almost 4 km, this promenade leads from Merano's parish church all the way to the district of Quarazze.
In the immediate vicinity of the town centre there are two access points to the Passiria. The terraces with lush greenery invite you to sit by the river and listen to the water, especially in summer.

The vibrant city of Merano
With its countless cafés, restaurants and shops, hidden in the historic arcades, Merano is an inviting place for a stroll. Museums and exhibitions offer a colourful mix of art and culture. While you can discover all about Merano's history from past to present in the Palais Mamming, the “Kunst Meran" (Art Merano) gallery offers temporary exhibitions on visual art, architecture, literature, music, photography and new media.

The “Torre delle Polveri” (Powder Tower) and its viewing platform with a fabulous view of Merano and the entire Burgraviate, is rightly considered one of Merano's most popular sights. From here, you can also discern the very well-preserved remains of Merano's old city wall.
